About PVC and tips to use it for cosplay

In our post About the method to make armor in cosplaying, we have introduce the material of PVC to make cosplay armor, and today, we just wanna further share some bacis ideas of PVC pipe and also some tips to use it for making cosplay armor.

PVC pipe is very handy for things like staff handles, and thanks to my dad (who works in construction, hello uber useful freebies! XD) I’ve collected a bit of knowledge about working with the stuff that I would like to pass on.

1. Selecting size
What I tend to do as far as judging size and length, is just to eyeball it. That tends to work well for me. Consider your other pieces, how it all needs to fit together, and select accordingly. Try to get some with thicker walls, because thinner walls will make it wobbly.

BE SURE YOU’RE WEARING GLOVES/MASK WHERE APPROPRIATE that is, if you can’t do this stuff outside. But outside is definately recommended because not only is some of the stuff recommended a little fumy, it’s messy too.

2. Prepping
Odds are good (almost 100%) that you’ll need to paint it. But there’s one pesky thing about PVC pipe. It has all that size and code number stuff printed on the side of it. You have two options (but first be sure any UPC codes/price tags are off your pipe):

Naruto cosplay Kakashi’s Formfitting Mask tutorial

I finally decided to type up a tutorial for you on how to make your own Kakashi’s (Naruto) form fitting mask. I hope that I can give my personal help to those Kakashi cosplayers on this tutor as you like. I am doing this only to help you make your cosplay better. You can finish all of this in about thirty minutes(with a sewing machine).

Materials

1) Fabric - Jersey Knit or Stretchable Knit or similar
2) Pattern - provided below
3) Velcro - to fasten mask about your neck and face.

Pattern

Pattern is the very first step you should decide. Here we provide a rough sketch of a pattern for you. The pattern we provide is only for a neck of 14’’ in circumference. So if your neck is bigger or smaller, you should alter the pattern to fit it.

Download pattern

I put the pattern with numbers and different colored lines. You can sew the pieces together after the green lines. The hem is after the blue ones.

Put your chosen pattern on the folded material. When you see the words “Place On Fold”, you may put the part of the pattern up to the fold of the fabric. Cut off the pattern from your material. Your end up will be like a butterfly look. You are required to sew the two parts together, where 2 and 3 are circled.

Naruto cosplay Ninja Sandal Tutorial

In our last post, we have teach you An easiest way to make a Naruto forehead guard, and today , we will take about how to Naruto Ninja Sandal.

Step 1: Supplies

-Sandals

-Scissors

-Hockey Tape

-Knee Length Athletic Socks

I used strapped sandals as you can see. Thong sandals would work only if you want to keep the thong (like sand village sandals). Flip-flops will technically work but actually don’t look good enough because the back tends to suck in to the overhang between your heel and the end of the sandal. The back strap gives support and makes an even rise on the back. The tape and the socks should have the same color as each. The socks should be long, but you don’t have to treat it seriously. I will explain this item further later. Many socks have a logo on them but when it’s on the ankle or higher it won’t be seen any more and don’t make any trouble.

Step 2: Creating the Base

We are going to pull the sock over top of the sandal to make the base.

Apparently the bigger the socks are that the easier this will be. The socks, however, that I used in the pictures were the third time I made them. I used Size 6-8 Socks to cover those size 13 sandals. They were a little shorter than what I have expected but it turned out to be good.

Today, i just checked two nice anime articles, Homework Assignment #60: And Again: Food in Anime and dragonball bento boxes, get inspired to write some ideas about food in anime, and also introduce the basic methord to make them yourself.so today i will start to share the top 8 food in anime (part1)

Ramen is a traditional Japanese food, which shows its delicious and exquisite taste through the noodles, soup, and the mixture of the two. It is the most popular food in nearly all the cosmic books, such as Naruto, who’s dying for ramen, or Sakuragi Hanamichi, who’s obsessed in this food. So with its price advantage and good taste, ramen steadily establish its throne in comics.

Representive: Naruto, Sakuragi Hanamichi, all the characters in Reload.

Tips for Ramen:

Ramen is actually originated from China to Japan. Among the three Japanese main noodles: Udon, Ramen and buckwheat pasta, only last one is traditional Japanese noodle. And Chinese ramen is the predecessor of Japanese counterpart.

Compared to ramen, sushi is a luxurious food, but also a popular food in comic books. Sour is the main taste of sushi. And sushi is an extreme demonstration of simpleness. However, eating sushi is not as easy as the food itself. From the sushi store of Ryuichi in Prince of Tennis, we see making sushi is as difficult as playing tennis.

Representatives: Ryuichi’s sushi store,

The process of making sushi:

1. use more rice on the outside than inside, about 1/3 more.

2. place rice from the left to the right as in the picture

3. turn the laver upside down, rice to the chopping block. Before you do it, first wet the block with cleaning rag. And put the stuff inside the laver.

4. roll the laver.

5. done!

6. warp the roll with a layer of preservative film, and shape the roll, but be careful not to smash the rice.

7. ok, remover the film

8. apply your favorite sauce, and make some ornaments.

9. slice the roll through the center.

10. finished!

Cosplay tutorials the making of accessories on armors

These days, we are very busing in making our new cosplay costumes, the most important part of this costumes is the accessories on armors. so today, i will teach you some basic ideas to make the accessories in this tutorial.

1.Tools and materials

Graver, scissor, EVA, thick unbleached craft, power glue .

The picture above is a screen break of Korean online game Priston Tale II, and we’re going to make the accessories on the armor. In my experience, there are three materials that can be used to make this prop.

1) Glass fibred reinforced plastic: 100% emulate the real stuff, good effect and quality. But the cost is high, and the material itself is heavy and difficult to deal with.

2) Wood: cost less and good modeling. But need good sculpture skills and the texture is not so persuasive after coloring.

3) EVA: light and simple to use. But bad in shape.

After some comparison, we decide to use EVA. (EVA is also called polymer density foam, and is used to make stuff like the bottom of flip-flop. Of course things mentioned here is something you can purchase in fairs.)

2.Process

PILI Luna shoot gun tutorial

Hello everyone, today we’re going to present you the process of making Yue’s weapon—-Luna shoot gun.We emit some pictures in order to save the time and space, because the processes can be complex and confusing due to the trivial and numerous pieces. As a result, you should be really familiar with the previous blog’s introduction to making cosplay props, for it is better to manage some conceptual basement and technical knowledge. Usually, I start with some pre-made elements, and then establish the scaling and size of rest parts according to these elements. In this way(which is really effective) it can prevent me from making mistakes which involves elements of different scales made hastily in the first place but cannot be matched well in the final assemble. Sorry for the complicated presentation if you cannot get it.

Materials:

1. Organic Board: you pick this board in a lettering shop or an Ad shop. This kind of board is flexible but thin, suitable for making small parts or ornaments in low relief on the surface. Strongly recommend ABS board if possible.

2. Acrylic Board: it’s thicker but more fragile than the first one. And it’s not easy to be out of shape, so it’s suitable to make the base. When you cut this kind of board, it’s possible to break the board so you have to pick material less than 2 mm.

3. PVC Board: You can find in a large Ad shop. It feels like thick paper board and bends to some angle when warm up. It is easy to cut off compared to the first two materials. You can use PVC to make some simple accessories for its better endurance. I use the 3 mm kind.
