The picture above is a screen break of Korean online game Priston Tale II, and we’re going to make the accessories on the armor. In my experience, there are three materials that can be used to make this prop.

1) Glass fibred reinforced plastic: 100% emulate the real stuff, good effect and quality. But the cost is high, and the material itself is heavy and difficult to deal with.

2) Wood: cost less and good modeling. But need good sculpture skills and the texture is not so persuasive after coloring.

3) EVA: light and simple to use. But bad in shape.

other ways to make good armors in cosplay

In my post before , i have mentioned one method to make armor in cosplaying , and today when i came accross a normal post of the cosplay forum , i found the reply from beryl who provided some good clue about the topic below :

“There’s no law that says you can’t use more than one type of “paper”. I’ve read good things about using a few layers of cheesecloth on the bottom with paper on top of it. I believe that this is called “scrim” (try searching for it on the boards here). A similar method is used in this famous armormaking tutorial.”

Then, you can check the articel from entropyhouse which provide the way to use Posterboard and other materials that are widely available to make armors. The artcle provides all the details of the way to make armors ,especially with the clear details pics which are most useful for the cosplayer beginners who wanna make the cosplay Props and Accessories themselves. And in the end of this article , the author provide 2 more useful links about making armors, personally, i like the Amethyst Angel better, who even write some useful cosplay books for cosplayers, so if you have some extra money, it’s good to purchase these books.

so as far as right now, you have some more choices to make the armors of cosplay yourself, cheers !:)
